Egg planting is one of the direct tasks conducted to populate areas not accessible to adult salmon due to barriers or where the number of spawners is very low compared with the quality and quantity of juvenile habitat. Data is harnessed to establish the 'coldspots' of population in the river and is subsequently targeted to plant eggs with as little intervention with nature as humanly possible.
